Abiola Kareem Portfolio Website
Abiola Kareem is a Creative Director based out of London, UK – and a dear friend of mine. Abiola wanted a portfolio website to showcase brand campaigns she's help direct. She wanted a minimal site design with small elements that elevated the user experience. The project also included the development of her own logo to expand her digital profile.
Logo Design
Versatility & Fluidity
Abiola wanted a logo that captured her wide range of creative capabilities. Her keywords were fluidity, and versatility. I made 2 rounds of logo drafts. The first one focused on had no explicit prompt. The second one was informed by her preference she selected in the first round and the insight she gave me. The second round featured an additional 16 sketches. We eventually landed on option #5.
I used Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and premiere to develop vectorized, 3-dimensional and animated versions of her logo. The chrome logo captured the visual spark she was looking for, rooting her brand identity in an appealing – yet not ostentatious – youthfulness and modernity.
CMS Integration
Project Layout >> Handoff
I designed the site using Framer, a popular no-code site development tool. I found the use of this software appropriate to provide an easy handoff process to Abiola. She – like most clients – was not looking to learn all the ins and outs of a new tool or code. This is where Framer's CMS integration comes in. Each new project she posts will populate similarly to a blog-styled site. All she needs to do in enter the information and images of any project on the backend, publish it, a it would automatically be arranged into the project layout I created on the frontend.

What Made This Project Easy
Communication is Key 🔑
I believe this project went by so smoothly because Abiola knew what she wanted and clearly communicated her vision. I was able to understand her vision, and she was accessible enough to answer any question I had along the way. While it's ok to not have all the certainty in the world when ideating about what you want out of a project, the more clarity and accessibility, the better.
